IEL Virtual Youth Town Hall: Immigrant and Refugee Youth Sense of Belonging
December 8, 2022 @ 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm
Leaders of Tomorrow is a leadership program developed by the Institute for Educational Leadership (IEL) with a curriculum co-created by immigrant and refugee youth. Leaders of Tomorrow aims to support and mobilize immigrant and refugee youth through opportunities to expand their knowledge, strengthen their skills, access tools and resources, and improve their circumstances and those of all children, youth, adults, and families in their communities. IEL published a guidebook in 2021 to support youth leadership development for immigrant and refugee youth. |
Earlier this Fall, we surveyed leaders and practitioners serving immigrant and refugee youth to better understand and document the current structures and practices that create and sustain a sense of belonging among immigrant and refugee youth. Additionally, we conducted focus group sessions with immigrant and refugee youth. The information from these activities will be used to update the guidebook with a new section on belonging. We invite you to join our virtual youth town hall on Thursday, December 8th from 6:00-7:30pm EST to learn from a panel of immigrant and refugee youth as they discuss what schools and other organizations can do to create and sustain a sense of belonging among immigrant and refugee youth. |
