January 2022 NYC CSD Community of Practice Update:

As a forum for sharing best practices, asking questions, venting frustrations, and time & (virtual) space to connect with fellow Community School Directors (CSDs), the Fordham CSTAC hosts biweekly Communities of Practice sessions for new, emerging, and seasoned CSDs. These sessions are collaboratively designed with participants to address the changing priorities within school communities while creating a community of learning and growth for CSDs.

Jessica Cummings, Community School Director of P.S. 142, has participated in these events and has even facilitated a recent session.  She notes that “as Community School Directors we are uniquely positioned in our school communities and community-based organizations. A community of practice with fellow CSDs allows us to learn from the experiences of others and work to collaboratively and creatively problem-solve with people who share this positionality, which is an experience that we can seldom have within our own school and working communities.”

In the spring, Fordham CSTAC will open these sessions to a statewide audience, with the goal of all sessions being facilitated by CSDs currently working in the field. Look for registration information in early March!
